Think that's it for Denly now.

Great guy and did exactly what was asked of him most of the time but the Crawley era has come
"It has been said of the unseen army of the dead, on their everlasting march, that when they are passing a rural cricket ground the Englishman falls out of the ranks for a moment to look over the gate and smile."

the way MPV has been continually talking Denly down over the course of this match, makes me wonder whether Crawley is part of his 'stable', given that one of them has to make way for Root

Not impressed with the pile in on Denly going on, particularly voiced by Vaughan. He did ok in the winter, and these games are played in extreme circumstances. I wouldn't be judging anyone by their performances this summer, particularly in terms of their career.

So far added 22 for this wicket.

I loved Vaughan the player and captain ; but I don't have much respect for him as a pundit. I reckon he is too fond of a headline and makes some fairly baseless remarks about players which help no one.
Agree Denly is likely to make way for Root : think Crawley earned his spot yesterday. But it doesn't mean he has to be totally written off : think he still belongs in the "squad" on recent efforts. Injuries happen.

Nine down now and 189 ahead...

Another thirty run last wicket stand would be nice but I think that is stretching fate :)

But Jimmy is away with a boundary ...

Gabriel did a good job for West Indies then. :clap Chasing 200 when late yesterday it looked like being 250. England will be glad Archer was able to clout a few as the rest of the late order rather folded after a solid top five effort.

50/50 ? New ball spell going to be vital...

Archer and Anderson are on fire - 2 down and a retired hurt for less than 10.

Archer is being very uncharitable to his fellow Bajans.

Campbell will be able to bat, apparently.

Three down to speed. 27/3. I thought 200 would be nowhere near enough, and it may well still prove not to be, but we could have a thrilling day on our hands.

Three down (so nearly 4 ...that review very close !)

England right on top. Going to need something remarkable from the West Indies later order from here. But it's a funny old game so chicken counting can wait a bit...

They have bowled very well indeed in that session :thumb

I suppose a single partnership would alter the balance, but that total looks a long way off.

Might see a few overs from Denly before long. Root would have had a bowl.
