Recent pattern. Cook gets a double hundred and a lot of failures.

Disastrous last session for England.

Cook has got to go, and Jennings and Malan and Broad.

Infact just play the ODI side from now on, which is what they probably should be doing in any case.

One to seven for sure, maybe negotiate a bit on 8 to 11 as I'm not a fan of either of the above. Curran would be a decent choice in the ODI anyway.

England need alternatives to replace a player on decline. David Malan, James Vince, Mark Stoneman are averaging below 30 iirc.

Not an ideal scenario considering England have just managed to find Joe against the loss of big knock batters like Bell, KP, Trotter. Add Cook to it and one wonders how these losses etc can be mitigated. Even Joe isn't scoring any doubles nowadays. For that matter Dawid, Mark and James are not even performing to Strauss who was the weakest of previous lineup.

Newbies have to take the many spots that are there to be taken in batting lineup.

India too have struggled with replacement of previous lineup. The difference being at least our batters average very nicely in home conditions. England's replacements are probably averaging poorly in home conditions as well ?

Great day for India, in the end. But not all that reassuring given how much they owe to one man.

England should feel ok, when the ball moved inside the first 30 overs they had India hopping. Don't think we will see India get as much luck, or after the luck an innings like kohli played for his last 100 or so.

India will definitely not want to face 250-300 plus unless the pitch flattens and dries.
