Busy day for batsmen today.

Looks like a good comeback for SL, but there's a suspicion the Kiwi bowlers will get more out of the surface. NZ have got plenty, given how grassy the pitch is.

Chameera looked interesting, some real pace, with a good bouncer, and moving the ball into the right handers.

Clearly has potential. Great pace and movement but he sprays it everywhere. Hope he doesn't become another Mohammad Sami.

Not the same without Chris Martin batting at eleven.

Plenty for NZ without the game being totally killed off, and in good time.

Decent bowling from the Kiwis. Not the worst ball ever to get a wicket from Wagner, because that was Swann against the Aussies with the big full toss in the 2013 Ashes (Rogers I think). Looks like a decent reply is feasible for SL.

Seems like good batting conditions but SL still struggling to score.

Fair enough, tire the bowlers, take the shine of the ball and all that. But if the ball is scuffing, as they say, they could be blocking out time until the ball reverses.

Also, with almost no prep, players have to find form and touch during the series. Still quite tense, I think.

This might backfire. They bat for 150 overs but still face a big deficit.

Despite his odd heroics I still consider Chandimal an over rated player.

I never thought Chandimal was much good but he's got an average of nearly 50 now. Still got a bit to prove outside Asia but this is a good start.
