Hopefully it is a strong A side and not any random 11 players the SA board can find.
in the past few years the players are from a pool of players not playing any domestic games in that week.

Australia did it during the last ashes, India have done it in the past.

looked at cricinfo here the Squad for the warm up games.
Vilas, Cook, De Kock, De lange, Hendricks, Maharaj, Morris, Parnell, Ramela, Roussou, zondo.
Looks strong in the batting, not sure about the bowling.
De lange look good but injury prone, Parnell too fat, Not really sure about morris see him more of a limited overs bowler.

Can see SA A using Maharaj and lesser bowlers if england bat loads of overs or the pitch is flat.

Looks a fair SA A side. Harmer usually gets a game for them. As he's not in the Test squad, maybe he's out the picture.

Should be a good test for the English bowlers since all the SA batsman have a good opportunity to get into the side.

My problem with Hales is that his batting is oftentimes feast or famine....and in current form I'd be listening out for rumbling stomachs.

Just woken up, and nine are out. I guess the batters who failed first time will get another go.

Shouldn't this team be an England XIII, not an England XI?

Though Gary Ballance isn't doing much.

Looks as if Jimmy has as well-coming on as 4th change.

Hales out bowled once again. How can this man open on boxing day????? Send for someone else post hast, anyone who opens.
Moving Compton to open is unfair to a man who is a regular number three and it's time England stopped P$$ing about with square pegs and round holes.

Cook goes now, not surprising as it must be a worry watching Hales FArting about at the other end.

That feels a bit premature Hope. This is his first long form game for England, and he was one of the leading bats in CC last year. He is a justifiable choice.
