Contrast to Edgbaston...the umpires have had an excellent game. Reviews keep proving them right !

Good catch Pope...and the Big Wicket falls to Broad :clap

Must have heard people calling or him to be rotated :)

Now : is he on a hat trick ? yes ! Umpire right again ...

Game nearly done.

61/5.

Big fish gone. Now even 100 looks doubtful.

A much weaker England side this time. India were favourites, and the number one side looking to confirm their pre-eminence beyond their own country.

Still have a chance. The weather could close this game down. Provided King Kohli isn't injured.

England weaker except Jimmy the Saint. At home, he is bowling as well as he was at the turn of the teens. Pitches have been prepared for him, but he must be about one of the best home town bowlers there's been, on present form.

Our batting is at its weakest since the 2000s I think. Even the old guard when they were past it in 2011 gave more promise.

which further begs the question of why they batted on this morning

hey...... perhaps they just wanted to give the punters some extra value for money?

we all know how test cricket likes to give the punters the very best value for money that it can

Back in the fab four era and beyond, players would sign on for CC cricket. Maybe this is experience the present team misses. I know Pujara recently had a hard time at Yorks, but that was just a month.

I can see why it doesn't happen.

I know you had India as big favorites , Arthur . I always reckon England at home are least 50/50. They've been inconsistent recently ; but I don't think the team is as poor as you believe. "Still developing" is my take...though they will need to settle a couple of spots before the old guard depart...

Mind you : Neither Jimmy nor Broad look ready to be pensioned off just yet :)

T20 game has impacted temperament, shot selection, technique, patience. Somehow they can't keep that away from tests.

Only Virat has managed to score in SA and in England. But then he is in prime form of his life since last year with many doubles.

It's hard to decide which Indian batsman has been the most disappointing.

They can make the excuses about conditions all they want.

Weather has been our worse player

Good performance in June and July and went missing in August.
