Second look and I'm even more convinced. Third umpire didn't seem to even consider the possibility...

That's a shocker from the TV umpire. Pretty obvious the bat hit pad...and really looked as ball went clearly past the bat. Joel Wilson has been pretty good so far but he's made a mess of that one...

As Ian says , he didn't seem to look at everything thoroughly.

Now Curran denied an lbw on review...drs is working for India today :)

Hot spot would've helped then

It is possible that the ball hit the bat at the same time as the bat hit the pad

But the third umpire didn't even seem to notice bat hit pad

Certainly made his decision very quickly

Rashid not even 5th choice bowler

they might even bowl Jennings ahead of him

makes me wonder why he's even in the team... apart from helping Smith save a bit of face, of course

Not sure about that. If one of these goes soonish , yes. But the ball gets old after about 45 overs and if they have wickets in hand still ...England will probably struggle to nip them out.

We should have a fair idea by around tea time.

Rahane a relatively poor player of spin and Virat struggling. Even if they got lucky and last till the old ball, they can't play Mo.

If Stokes bats five , then surely he can bat six ? Whether he can keep up his currant streak remains to be seen ; but that seems a reasonable option on present form. Then no need to mess Bairstow around - let him revert to 7 with the gloves.

Then Curran goes down into the tail. Maybe he should have a chance in the lower middle order. I was quite happy with JB1&2 fighting it out for the gloves.

Anyway, it'll sort itself out eventually.
