Well he won't get seven as Broad comes back on in place...

At least I hope not : if England have to bring him back again for another spell Sri Lanka will presumably have a very tidy lead !

About time someone else did some work anyway

...abd Broad does just that ! Ends a fine innings from Chandimal :clap

Surely Cook will get the record today? It'd be Sod's law of he gets an unplayable delivery on 9999!

Finally, Cookie becomes the youngest test player to 10,000 runs.

Likely one of the last. Now can he get the rest he needs to retire as the highest run scorer in test cricket.

Well done by Cook. Appropriate that he got there with one of his trademark on side clips for four...

Wonder if Compton would prefer to bat again? Probably not as there aren't enough runs left to get a major score but enough time to get out.
Think he's safe for at least one more test regardless.

Unless this big hundred from Borrthwick today has convinced the selectors to change for Lords.

Cook looks much more relaxed now that milestone is out of the way.

Yes. There is an argument for bringing in a newbie against SL rather than wait for the much tougher games against Pakistan.
