No, starts at 10.30 am. We didn't have planning permission for lights when the tickets 1st went on sale. Also since it's on a Saturday probably preferable to have a day game.

Surprised that Stokes didn't bowl that over.

Someone else also at the ground may have to comfirm this for me but when the bowling option was being made the scoreboards stated 48 meaning it would make sense to bowl Root followed by Stokes but that changed to 47 after the first ball. Would of hoped Morgan would've been aware of that but maybe not?

Few thoughts on today:

Jason Roy : If he isn't going to bowl, he shouldn't play
Joe Root : Never looked comfortable at the crease
Ben Stokes : Impressive with the bat, okay with the ball ( not as good as his figures suggest ) AWFUL fielder, dropped everything in the warm-up and a chance in the match
Eoin Morgan : Batted brilliantly, captaincy was awful, gave Taylor and Kane singles all day, most defensive field I've seen
Adil Rashid : Not sure what he was trying to do 1st ball, and his bowling was terrible ( should of gone for more ), nothing really happened for him today
David Willey : Bowled really really well, especially with the new ball, wasn't backed up in the field
Mark Wood : Pick of the bowlers, unlucky with 2 dropped catches, dropped a dolly, and needs to be careful with reviews, bit like Broad.

Brendon McCullum: saved about 15 runs on his own, kept attacking fields which lead to the collapse, impressive as a captain
Kane Williamson: Incredible player, didn't realise quite how good he is, could of batted all day if he wanted
Ross Taylor: See above, their partnership was the perfect example of how to chase a target
Ben Wheeler : Excellent with the ball, on another day would of had a 5fer

Also to note, Taylor and Williamson didn't let any England bowlers settle, David Willey bowled 2 class overs, then McCullum and Kane took him for 13 and forced fielding changes in his next over, then Mark Wood bowled a really good over ( and got B.Mac ), so Taylor targetted him, scored 14 and got a defensive field next over. It really was a masterclass.

How far is Willey fro the test team?

A left arm bowler would be very handy at test level.

Are England just desperate to find a left arm seamer, ala Starc, Johnson or Boult? Gurney has had his chance but has been discarded and probably too old. Haven't seen much of Willey before, lovely action, but not quick enough yet for me to trouble international class batsmen.

Wood does look a real talent, think he can only get better and quicker.

Great day out yesterday - nice atmosphere, well organised and the clouds lifted for a while.

Pretty good summary that - we were obviously 50 runs short nd England's rather gung ho approach at the end of their innings cost them. Credit to McCullum - - he was always looking for wickets. England really only did that at the start and when the game was up.

As ever, the game was eventually won by two top class batsmen who simply made it look all to easy - no slogging just postive and intelligent batting. We put them under very little pressure. - we gave ground too quickly instead of swarming all over them.

Quite impressed with Willey, Wood and Billings as the new boys for England - our batting may have been aggressive but you still have to pick the right balls - we lost an easy forty/fifty runs at the end of our innings - but credit to New Zealand for that as well.

Oh and we bowled too short, especially Finn, again.
