Jamie Overton seems an odd choice given he's been dropped by Somerset. Maybe he's a one day specialist?

It doesn't look like either has played a lot of limited overs. 14&15 list A games. Craig averages 10 with the bat and 50 with the ball.

I think Craig played for the Lions a couple of years ago and was expensive.

Can't see them playing, though it would be nice to get a look at them.

With Moeen probably to return later in the summer, Roy in particular needs a score. And with Woakes likely to come back into the squad, members of a rather volatile and amorphous squad of bowling options need to distinguish themselves. I don't think you could say any of the bowlers have stood out yet.

I haven't played in a few years, and even at my best a few good club players could hit me around on occasions...... never much of a sound batting option either, apart from a couple of strokes I didn't have much in the locker.

Yet I have a feeling that if someone gave me a month off work to prepare and practice, a bit of professional coaching, I would be able to return better performances then Craig Overton has managed in his limited overs career.

A lot of hype but neither had a great record. Would England be better off going for Rankin, Brooks or Footitt?

Rankin and Brooks were away last year. I think England aren't keen on picking Yorkshire players for some reason though.

I would have thought they'd stick with Hales and Roy for this series and perhaps the next - give them a chance to get some experience and consistency. They both need to tighten up a bit - although Roy was out playing a defensive stot yesterday.

Southee early on is class, and Starc will be a real handful. They need to face bowling like that over time if they are to succeed. After all they're playing both WC finalists in succession.

No nothing about the Overtons - does seem a bit odd even if England have been stung by criticism of not giving youth a chance.

I agree with that. I think they have to stick with Hales and Roy, but not only this series, keep on going with them. We are playing a very good side and competing for once with the run scoring. Personally the only changes I would make are in the seam bowling department
