I wonder if Lara's record might go? He'll have a long rest tonight, and will have loads of time to get it.

I'm not sure about Lara's record, but Matt Hayden's is gettable.

He'll only have another 20 to get, if he gets to 380.

You're right. He needs another 157 to break the record. It could happen. He'll only need to bat until the drinks break after lunch.

Getting harder and harder to gauge he performance of test teams. See a lot of Aussies crowing about this performance but are Australia any better than South Africa?

Aus at home are always dominant. South Africa are struggling in a hostile environment with different pitches.

SA's team is in transition. Big Vern and Steyn out for a while as well. Hard to say where they are currently at, especially as they play so little.

Maybe cricket has to make some uncommercial decisions in order to make series more competitive.

Aus's loss in England was a real outlier result for England in recent times. So probably not a defeat you can feel too good about.

Aus fans have no right to crow until they can perform well overseas.

As yuppie(?) says, things will be very different when Aus play the NZ in NZ.

Does any team perform well overseas?

It seems the much-vaunted Kiwi bowling attack struggles on hard, Aussie pitches.

true still many australian fans are still living in cuckoo land, wonder if channel 9 plays a part in that.
Read a good article on this about how Australia needs to stop being so happy with how their perform in the summer and start taking away tours seriously.
Saying that this does apply to all team now Even SA would probably struggle away from home now.

Counter intuitive as it is to say so but the strength of the top four may come back and bite Australia later on in the series. As anyone below Smith isn't really getting their eye in they are beginning o look under cooked so,if ever New Zealand get the better of the top four Aus may be in a pickle.

Usman Khawaja has injured his left hamstring and looks set to miss the Adelaide Test. The early talk in the Oz media suggest that Michael Klinger will be called up. The only other option would be to select Cameron Bancroft and move Joe Burns to 3. For a one off appoinment, I'd favour Klinger, but anything is possible with our selectors.
