Yep. It makes the flat Australian pitches all the more frustrating. Not only does it give the players over-inflated averages and the Australian team the chance to fill their boots against touring sides, it does nothing to prepare them for touring when the ball actually does something.

Smith averages over 50 in home ODIs and under 20 overseas. That says something pretty damning, I think.
