Are England's problems here due to picking all rounders and expecting them to take wickets like regular bowlers?

No refferal to a plumb LBW, strange.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Rashid done himself no harm going forward with 10 overs for just 25 runs today

Shame it wasn't him with an over against the nightwatchmen I don't think he'd have survived

Well bowled jimmy and broad, we did miss wood and stoked though with the ball reversing

Impact was umpires call so technically the right call but given some of the ones that get reviewed was a bit strange

Clearly they feel rahat isn't worth wasting a review on

I thought so too...but it seems Hawkeye had it Umpires Call on impact , so an excellent decision by England not to waste a referall on a nightwatchman !

Fascinating Test Match. Pakistan through Hafeez have their noses in front again ; but if England could shift him - and Misbah - in the morning they could yet implode and leave a gettable target.

Trouble is the England spinners seem to be getting less effective the longer this series goes on... And Broad and Anderson can't bowl all the time...

Maybe more that there aren't any "regular" (spin) bowlers to pick...

Does anyone really think Tredwell , say , would have run through Pakistan ? He would have been tighter , granted. But enough to compensate for the runs Patel , for example , made today ?

I guess it will depend on how many runs Patel/Ali and Rashid give away in the second innings. Did not have to be a spinner either. The quicks seem to have been more effective for England. Could be any specialist bowler.

20 days ago Shoaib Malik made his highest Test score. Today he had his best bowling figures in Tests & on the same day he retires
