fair play to Dhoni for keeping cool and not just throwing and missing. Good work from the keeper

In fairness to Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah, I know they should have just settled for the singles, but the balls they got out to were filthy... deserved to get the treatment. It was like watching Jordan bowl. Pandya will pick up 60 of the least deserved FL points, since ..... well.....every time Bravo bowls

Absolutely Footman. It's all good and well Brendon Julian saying Mahumudullah should have played it along the ground but it was a rank full toss, very close to above waist height and right on the batsmans eyeline. 9 times out of 10 in the modern game that is six all day long.

for some reason I did think BD would bottle it at some point, but with only a single needed to tie off 3 balls I thought my intuition may have been wrong!

awful performance from Ind though - batting was poor and the fielding was absolutely awful. Very lucky to still be in this.

I don't blame Mahmudullah for trying to put the full toss away but Rahim could have easily tucked his delivery for a single.

Had to seal the super over first.

Sample size is too small to make this judgement yet considering the first game was played at nagpur which is always been slow and turning and the 2nd game which was affected by rain.

Also this is the first tournament played in vast extreme pitches.
You get the good pacy, small good batting wicket Mumbai, Banglore and should be Dharamasala and then the slow turners, tough to bat on Kolkata, Delhi and Nagpur.
With Mohali being in the middle.

But saying that if Banglore and Mohali start being slow and taking turn then yes the pitches have been doctored.
Banglore never really turned a huge amount and the wicket has always been great for batting and had good pace for the batsman to time the ball.
Mohali been slow lately since they haven't relaid the pitch for 20 years but even then the pitch doesn't really turn unless it has been doctored.

Anyway India is a huge country with varied wickets and with the tournament being played at 6 grounds at grounds at the north, east, south and west and middle of the country no surprise conditions vary between grounds.

So far the only pitch that has surprised me has been Dharamasala.

surely it cant be coincidence that the only two pitches in the tournament that have turned square have been in games featuring india, the rest of the games the ball hasnt really turned that much then it has ragged square in those two games

im surprised they even tried it again after it backfired on them against new zealand

Looks like you are right pitches have been doctored no way should banglore be this slow.

Exactly what I was thinking haha

It's an underhand tactic that isn't even working well

This is the sort of wicket that brings Bangladesh into the game

On a flat one india would win more often surely

Looks like the pitch was fine, just that india were *modded* with the bat and bangladesh good with the ball.

That pitch offered much more turn and was much slower than the other games at that venue didn't it or am I confusing the grounds

TBH only Ashwin really got it to spin.
Didn't actually remember much of bangladesh spinners getting much turn and actually watching the game again a lot of the time it was poor Indian batting.
When India was bowling they didn't put Bangladesh under pressure barring 2 overs of Jadeja and 4 overs of Ashwin.
Also when Bangladesh were batting the pace in the wicket looked ok for a banglore wicket.
India got very lucky if Australia or any top team played india at banglore yesterday india would have gotten thrashed.

No idea how india made batting look so difficult since Bangladesh had no issue barring the overs ashwin bowled.

Looking at the game after the match it was certainly india making the pitch having demons then the actual pitch having demons.

Also a game where 145 which got defended which was probably 15 runs below par, make it a good pitch TBH it had enough help for the bowlers to restrict batsman and with the small boundaries and quick outfield bad balls and crap bowlers got hit out of the park.
Far better wicket than nagpur.

In my opinion india batting was down to lack of timing and probably out of form batsman.

TBH the wicket was similar to the Australia vs Bangladesh game at banglore and even the Sri lanka vs West indies game at the ground.
Pace of the wicket was similar, somehow India made batting look so much difficult than it should be and make it look far slower than it should be.

I was certain that even though this was not an on par score against teams like WI, we would win against Bangladesh. Even after the four by Hardik in last over, there was hope at least for me.

Fielding has to improve. Bumrah seems to me like another Nehra or Munaf on the field. Where to hide Bumrah and Nehra with 360 degree shots being played :dunno Dhoni's keeping was excellent as the stumpings were taken on low bounce balls. The likes of Robin Uthappa, Dinesh would have got hit on pads or missed it for four. Credit to Dhoni for that as well as the timely bowling changes which worked this match at least. Shikhar has to score runs. Ajinkya can bat fast as we saw in his ODI innings in WC against likes of Steyn as well as he has an IPL hundred and many 50's.In addition to that he is slightly better fielder than Shikhar. We will have to give up on left - right opening combo if Shikhar fails another match or drop Yuvi if he too fails and make Shikhar bat in middle order. Yuvi anyways is not bowling in most matches or i rarely bowling the odd over or two.

Against Aussies we need wicket of Usman early. He sets up nice platform for the following players. Watson is a class act in this format. There will be healthy competition right from ball one versus Aussies. where we can beat Aussies, and even as per Finch interview spin is their weakness. Jaddu and Ashwin spell will be key. Hardik is someone who will err on line usually and Aussies who are brilliant versus pace will probably damage his economy rate a lot. Aussies do not have a spin attack as good as ours and that is where we should target for runs. Both teams have strengths and weakness but the advantage of spin bowling which is very much better in quality will be the key imo.
