I mean, I am not sure what is worse...

1. Not beating such a poor WI side or...

2. Graves stating we should destroy them, then only win 1 test in 3

Not much different to Glenn McGrath predicting Australia are going to win The Ashes 5-0.

Graves knows what he's doing. By saying that West Indies are going to have a mediocre team, it gives him leverage to sack Moores, Cook and the selectors should England fail to win.

If anything, the way Trott and Moeen got shoehorned into the England side along with 4 out of 6 Yorkshire players doing nothing all series long is enough justification to get rid.

McGrath isn't emplyed by Cricket Australia though.

:clap

Probably right. The likelihood is that his comments were simply ill judged rather than part of a cunning plan.

Well done, to the West Indies! Genuinely chuffed for each and every one of them out there. T20 mercenaries cooling their heels in the IPHell can f*** off. One of the best 4th innings knocks I've seen in a while from Bravo and Blackwood continues to impress, showing another side to his game. Its good that West Indies finally have a team full of Test specialists. I can't see any of the current side (apart from maybe Holder, who I believe is quite passionate about WI and would prefer WI to IPHell in case tours coincide) being particularly attractive options in the IPHell.

Hopefully, Shai Hope will also make a good impression soon and possibly Dowrich for Chanders? There is enough fast bowling talent to be developed under Sir Curtly's guidance. A much needed win to revive some interest in the Caribbean. Really happy for the passionate Barbados crowd.

May the IPHell stay away from these boys..

@NHoultCricket: Gillespie turned down South Australia job last night. His county chairman takes over at ECB next week...

Interesting...maybe!

Graves has never said anything of the sort. He said he would be disappointed if England fail to beat the West Indies (like every England player or fan would be) and there will be enquiries should that happen.

I think so but he might have left some room for manoeuvre, wouldn't be the first time a coach seemingly ruled out a move only to change his mind.

Not quite, he said he was pretty sure the West Indies are going to have a mediocre team for the test series based on a number of their players on IPL duty.

None of their Test players are on IPL duty. This is their full strength side.

So he said that the team England played was mediocre, right ? :hmmm Not sure the distinction makes any difference.....

His exact statement as reported from Sky...

I'd certainly be disappointed if we don't win the West Indies series, because I am pretty sure the West Indies are going to have a mediocre team

So we lost to a mediocre team, even the highest person in English cricket said it.

TBH Dan most people that follow cricket in england don't know that lol.

They all think the West indies lads would get into the team.
The only real player that would get into the team would be Gayle and he probably way past his best.
