Nope.the ball wouldn't have hit him unless he didn't put his hand out, so if you accept that a player can do that to protect himself then stokes is no different.

Interesting it was a raina throw....he had inzi out obstructing about 10 years ago when he threw it at the stumps and instead of wear it, inzi used the bat and was out even though his body would have stopped the ball hitting the stumps.

As holding said at the time, sometimes the law may say one thing, but you don't appeal for those

Had I been the umpire I would have noticed stokes wasn't looking at the ball and deduced there was no intent, or time looking at the full speed replay for him to purposely stop the ball

It looked like his arm swung round as he was attempting to get out of the way

But if you just focus on the slow mo and are only looking at his arm then it looks out

You don't appeal for those though

Hussey should have been given out IMHO. Did they appeal? Was there a third umpire back then or reviews?
