Sam caught in slips trying to hoick one over the long on.
Chandimal limping yet again, even in slips.

England have recovered well. Thought they would wind up in 225 but lot more has been scored. Still SL will be happy because the wicket had more runs to be scored. Nice innings by Foakes and Sam.

Lower order showing that this was a 400 run wicket at least. 300/7 in spite of top 5 wickets blown in one session for 103 runs.

Foakes deserves a 100. Not a stylish batsman but did a massive job here for the team.

Curran and Rashid provided very useful knocks in the lower order. Those partnerships could prove vital.

No commentary on BBC. Must be a Talksport winter.

Great recovery. England must be well placed.

A non-Asian side hasn't made over 400 in SL since SA in June 2014. So in context, that's a decent score. Yet again, it's the lower middle order turning the innings around. Different players, same outcome.

Bairstow and Buttler are being ushered towards being in competition for one place.

Not the certainty that he feels as batter-keeper. His recent record in Tests isn't good with a bat.

True, save that hundred at Trent Bridge. However fortuitous. He averages 44 since he was recalled in India, which is pretty good for an England player over that period. Never really looked like a Test middle order bat though, or lower middle order.

Averages since the start of the winter tour of BD and India, 2016-17.
