hard to be critical when the guy injured and scored a 50 although Compton did get dropped for the same reason since England didn't believe he had an injury in the home NZ series.

Cook and the media love Stokes to bits, Atherton is so taken with him, he would adopt him if he could.

don't mind Stokes as a player, but really the media and fan need to actually push him and expect more from him.
it was laughable that people before were happy with him averaging 20 with bat and 60-80 with ball.
he had it so easy and which might explain why it took him 3 yrs to actually contribute with the bat and ball consistently in the same time.

I do wish Stokes isn't naive since I suspect if ECB ever wants to get rid of him they got some pretty good reason to get rid of him IE his sledging, aggression to his own team and wants to be the main man with the ball, bat and field.
if I really was close to stokes would tell him don't give reasons for ECB to get rid of you in the future, just concentrate on your batting/fielding and bowling, you can never be sure how long the Media and ECB hierarchy likes you.

Hameed out of the series, sounds like a serious injury as well.

Quite pleasing to beat england easily on a flat normal wicket, good sign overseas really, the seam bowlers bowled well and india got some depth on that apartment with BK in the bench as well.

Very good win.

india might do well or be competitive in the next overseas leg.
Ashwin will clearly be a threat overseas, and the seam bowlers have been bowling well and the batsman will be touring twice overseas during their peak batting days.

Found this comment by kohli funny.
"Kohli: I was surprised by their cheer at winning the toss. Game still to be played. Got motivated by that to show toss doesn't matter to us."
Gubbins, jennings and Billings all in consideration and in other news Broad spending 4-5 days in Dubai with the lions to help him with his injury and their are hoping broad fit for Mumbai game.

one thing I don't get about the hameed stuff is why did they worry about playing mind games with india.
Not sure it made any difference to india if they knew earlier that hameed got a broken hand.
if anything them hiding it made england panic more yesterday.

doesn't even make sense since the game wasn't even close yesterday Tea time.

Earlier points about Bayliss, I dont really agree with. This idea that England have in someway exceeded expectations on this tour is for me, a mute point. The expectations are low for this team because of the continuous inherent problem with sourcing talent in key areas they need to perform, and that comes down to the united efforts of all the coaching staff, backroom staff and selectors..... all of which Bayliss is really the only person who has a part in all decision making levels of.

If we go back to May 2015 and look into the problems the team had, its unclear whether or not Bayliss has really sorted any of this out. In this time, the only batters to have done well are Root (who had an excellent 2014 as well), Cook (who still averages slightly under his career level in general) and Bairstow (who's was brought in as a keeper and, who may have improved as a keeper slightly, but in general over the period has performed appallingly behind the stumps).

When we go to the next level down this team, Ali has failed to get past 15 in 5 of his last 6 innings and he is not a test class spinner. Stokes has averaged 35 with the bat under Bayliss, and although he has improved recently, these are still not numbers that will keep him as a test match 6 for long. Duckett was messed about. Hales averaged under 30. Bell has disappeared after nearly 10 tests without a hundred. Vince spent a whole summer season unable to get a 50. Ballance came back and was outclassed to even more disasterous levels. Even frigging SAMIT PATEL was recalled as a spin bowler and flopped big time. Adam Lyth averaged 10 runs in a whole series under Bayliss. Compton came back for a long stint and did hardly anything. James Taylor retired, but had averaged in the 20s in a few games under Bayliss.

On the other side of the game, Ball didnt really do that well on debut. Finn looks as lost as ever. Rashid is averaging over 40 under Bayliss but is considered in someway a success. Picking Gareth Batty and Ansari as front line spinners hasnt worked. And Broad and Anderson are struggling for fitness, with Woakes struggling for form.

Its hard to really see where Bayliss is having a positive impact in tests. In ODI's he has revolutionised us, but in tests he looks like he hasnt a clue. England are placing so much reliance on a core group of class players, after which its anyones guess!! England made changes for this test, bringing in a T20 player who came in to have a slog with his team in dire need of runs, and eventually skying one down the throat of the outfielder. And they brought in a very poor spinner who its clear the captain literally had no faith in handing the ball to.

I think Bayliss needs to certainly come in for some flak. This team look its picked as a result of pinning photos on a dartboard, not on any educated thought processes.

The simple fact is, England arent seemingly picking the right people. The people they do pick are not improving at a quick enough rate. The players dropped are not working with coaches on the right areas because they return with the same technical faults and are asked to go through the rollercoaster again. The team has a stinking attitude with increasingly poor behaviour on the pitch. The Captain is about as inspiring as a dead horse. The youngsters coming through the structure as the chosen ones puzzle as to what special qualities they have. The Lions and all the performance squads arent having any impact. The selectors are dead men walking.

So, a couple of our batsman made runs on a dead draw pitch, and we are supposed to uphold the positives? If you ask me, Bayliss is slowly pushing this team off a cliff. England are rudderless, there isnt any plans in place at all for the long term.

In his defence, a lot of England's problems are levelled on him when they are to do with the leeches from the previous administration still clinging onto their ECB payroll existance without actually having any positive impacts themselves.

Its time its acknowledged just what is Strauss doing? What has he done to justify his wage? What has Flower done? Gave us a 7 test batsman who couldnt score over 40, and a test match bowler who averaged 80 vs a poor batting line up in helpful conditions? He must be doing a sterling job.....

Surely many of the personnel changes of the one day teams were put in place by Paul Farbrace before Bayliss arrived in England who came just in time to claim the ashes victory as his prize.
