Root survives a close shave. Root's got to stay in for a while or England will be very exposed.

I'd have left Archer out and played another batter.

BBC live says Cornwall is the heaviest man to play Test cricket. Amazing stat. Who previously held the record?

Gabriel off the field already.

Back on. Hamstring strapped.

Warwick Armstrong. The Big Ship. I think he was bulky. But in those days a player would put down his cigar and port and go out to bat. Repetitions were what you got after a five course dinner. I'm thinking in the era of the concept of fitness. Clearly no one was heavier than that Bermuda player. But no one in Tests is even near. The Aussie who plays for Glamorgan is near but i don't think he played Tests. I'm struggling with names at the moment. Inzi was obese, but he wasn't so big you'd do a double take. Cornwall is. Was there anyone before Cornwall in Tests in recent times anywhere near?

Recent test players, Ramesh Powar I think was pretty overweight. But unlike Cornwall, he was about 5ft tall

Remember seeing Tim Munton at the end of his career, and he was absolutely massive by that stage. Definitely the biggest I've ever seen a fast bowler. It was like his run up never ended.

Meanwhile Root goes. Another wicket here and WI will be happy enough with the toss.
