To me, these batting selections make it absolutely clear that Smith, Warner and probably Bancroft too will be straight back in the team, and the puzzling shuffling is because the selectors don't care about development or consistency, they're just trying to keep seats warm.

I agree Renshaw should probably have been more seriously considered, but he made it hard for the selectors to justify picking him after an abysmal run in the early season shield matches.

I'm no fan of M Marsh, but what was the point of bringing him back for one test, and leaving Handscomb out at playing the MCG?

It really does not make sense. Handscomb, we gave you 2 tests, now we will give Marsh 2 test makes more sense. They are messing the players around and that can not help the development of them.
