he was brought in specifically to focus on ODI cricket and with ODIs dominating for the next 6 months the improvement we have seen under him in that area will be more than enough to make him safe

The improvement was already underway during Paul Farbrace's stewardship as caretaker coach. Bayliss is now off to his loved ones in Oz to continue his part time role for England.

I thought the bottom of the barrel had been scraped after the last test, but we've made a hole in the thing in this game and kept going.

Diableedingbolical.

England record since 2015 now stands at 12 wins and 14 losses that is quite poor for a board with so much money and resources.
Since start of 2015, England have won 12 Tests and lost 14.
Considering their wealth, relative to other countries (Ind excluded) very poor

That was pathetic.

I don't know what was worse. That it happened, or that it was so predictable that it would happen.

I'm trying to remember the last time England successfully saved a test match on the 5th day (as opposed to either setting the target in the 4th innings, or being on track to chase a target but running out of time, or there simply being no chance of a result either way due to lack of time). The New Year test in Cape Town, maybe, if you want to be charitable, . That's the only example I can find in the last THREE YEARS. Maybe four.

Innings and 75 runs. Superb performance :bow

Didnt think the win margin would be so high though.

Erm so what happened?

Didn't bother to watch because it looked a nailed-on draw for a village side. Saw it was four down and thought no chance.

Aidan will be fuming.

ODI should be competitive/England winning 3-0.
india not got a great ODI team at the moment and they likely to rest a lot of their key players.
