Not really as you don't get an even number of teams from each group. Not ideal to go for two best 3rd placed teams.

The beauty of having best 2 third places qualify is that every match would matter.

3 groups of 5 still amounts to the same total of tournament matches played (31) but takes longer to complete due to the extra group stage match and a team sitting in a round of matches.

True enough, maybe better suited to 50 over World Cups then...

you'd better hope that Zim win this, because England will lose to Afghanistan, I reckon....... they are one of the minnows who England haven't lost to yet, but only because they haven't played them

Great recovery. Shows how much Afghanistan have developed over the last few years. They used to just go down slogging.

England would have just go on slogging

expressing themselves

counterattacking

positive cricket

otherwise known as panic ridden, brainless cricket

Afghanistan have just won this... they'll get 180, I reckon

Zim won't get close. 140 might have been in reach, but not a big score like this is going to be

England played Afghanistan in the 2012 World T20 and smashed them, Luke Wright scored 99 not out.
