Very nice. Didn't stay up for the Australian innings ; but after three games we appear to have two teams , neither of which is much good at batting under the pressure of chasing a decent score ?

He needs a big innings in the last two games or his place is on the line

if it was up to me hales or roy are playing for one place once root returns as I would move Ali to open and have taylor and root at #3 and #4

before this series it would have been Roy for the chop but he has showed improvement imo even just since the NZ series , they did a segment on him the other day showing how much he seems to have tightened up his technique in just those couple of months

Root at 4? Surely not. The best player has to bat in the top 3 in limited overs cricket surely? He has done well at 4 but England have hardly won much as he hasn't been able to influence games there. Was brilliant at 3 vs NZ and won matches. Could he open ala Amla for SA and let Taylor stay at 3? I wouldn't want to move Morgan from 4 either. He is doing brilliantly.

Perhaps showed the benefit of playing spinners on pitches that help them, even if your spinners aren't geniuses. However obvious that seems, it doesn't seem to be in the England guidebook.

And again illustrated the importance of the toss in ODIs.

Hope this doesn't stop England allowing Willey and Billings a game in the last two matches, and give Wood a recall in at least one of them.

I cant see any point going back to tredwell for example and having 2 off-spinners and root as a 3rd as backup
