Arthur Crabtree wrote:I think this was a different kind of pitch though where they felt bowlers could get on top, so giving the pace bowlers ten overs each seemed a good idea. Woakes had a bad day (people do in ODIs which can be brutal) but in the death overs, it's hard to introduce a part timer. Though these are the games it should be tried in, if you were going to do that.

Moeen has been so good for England. He gave England ten economical overs and a wicket today, and he offers a batting threat too. His bowling is really relied on.

If England win this I'm going to go on about them being WC favourites from now on.

I didn't actually mean bowl Bopara at the end ...just a couple of overs in the middle - say during that partnership of Maxwell and Marsh , just as insurance. He has sometimes been quite useful so wouldn't have been too much of a risk , surely ?

You're right about Moeen. He continues to impress more with his bowling than I'd have originally expected. Going to need serious runs from him today too though if they're hoping to chase this down...

Looked like a no ball to me too. If they're going to do this stuff by TV umpire then they probably should apply the Law to the letter...

I seem to have done for Moeen with the bat there :(

Think we're in a spot of bother here :panic

Ravi playing for his WC spot? We know the English selectors like a complete change of plan just prior to the tournament starting :facepalm

I suggested the other day we drop something on ravi bopara so we can replace him in the squad , maybe we could drop eoin morgan on him , 2 birds with one stone so to speak

i suppose when Maxwell and Marsh were in they thought a wicket could still transform the game and the quicks were their best hope. Even so, an unexpected change sometimes breaks a partnership.

Morgan has 123 runs in 4 innings with 121 of them in one innings. Seems the role of captain is jinxed.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.
