Six quicks, none of them allrounders, in a 15 person squad feels excessive. Al least they've remembered to take a couple of spinners.

The Overton is the one that bats a bit, so he could go in at seven.

No Kerrigan, even in the A squad after being the 'designated' frontline spinner (he was called up into the squad for a Test, wasn't he?) during the summer? Are Rashid and Riley locked in to go the Caribbean? They'll definitely need 3 spinners (including Moeen) in the squad there as they'll have to play 2 (incl Moeen) every game.

yeah that's what I thought , could maybe have had one fewer and an extra option for the middle order

Unless they are thinking of Tredwell, another off spinner. Riley is an off spinner. The lead selector has already said there aren't any spinners worth picking (according to Vic Marks who reports he was told 'Well, who would you pick'. Not asked, I took it to be rhetorical). The identity of England's second spinner is a mystery. I doubt Rashid will play in a Test.

I feel that England have a far better bead on who the next generation of batsmen are than they do about the bowlers.

Who do you think are the best players of spin around?

No one knows. If England can't produce a spinner, is it possible that a batter will be tested in CC?

Trott is picked, and he's not coming back any time soon.

I think people are over talking the spin card in the carribean...it's not a raging turner out there...it offers spin yes, but they dont all turn sideways...in fact most of the time they are just flat pitches out there.....Moeen + one other will probably be enough..2 for the squad...and with Moeen and Root in the line up, may not even need a 2nd frontline spinner..

James Taylor actually must be up there. Samit?

Bothwick, Rayner and Kerrigan went on the A tour last winter. Kerrigan did the least badly.

James Taylor very good player of spin and IMO should have been a regular in the test side a long time ago!
