I'll be accused of being "obsessed" but apparently Gayle didn't take the field again (he didn't in the first game either after spending a grand total of 1 ball at the crease) after an extremely exhaustive stay of 12 deliveries for 1 run. Nice paid trip Down Under, ain't it? :clap

Epic choke from Scotland btw. They needed 11 off the last 2 overs with 5 wickets in hand!

But an encouraging performance on the whole and WI look firm underdogs in their clash against Zimbabwe in the WC.

they needed 13 off 2 with 4 wickets in hand and describing it as an "epic choke" when a team with the resources Scotland has gets so close to beating a full member is quite offensive tbh

I did say it was a good performance on the whole! But surely losing from that position (pretty sure they had 5 wickets in hand) counts as a big choke?

Oh I forgot you were a Scot, rich... Sorry :hide

I'm just disappointed they didn't get over the line. Really wanted them to give the West Indies a good hiding.

do you know the level that guys batting 7th and 8th for Scotland play at shanks ? two guys in their early 20s who have only played 10 FC games between them and probably never played in Australia before these warmups

getting 13 runs from the last 2 overs against experienced international players is no gimme

I have no idea who their number 7/8 is but I expect them to be at least as good as the number 9 of a full member team (ala Swann/Broad) and you'd expect Swann and Broad to chase 13 in 2 overs in modern day ODI cricket against a side like WI, who don't have a Malinga or a Starc or a Steyn. I'm just disappointed more than angry. Maybe I'm being harsh because other Associates like Ireland and Netherlands do have decent number 7/8, obviously you know better about your team.
From their perspective its a very good performance on.the whole of course. I am just disappointed they couldn't get over the line. Maybe I'm being harsh.

WI on the other hand should be seriously worried about a QF spot if they weren't already!

I give up shanks , if you seriously think someone playing for an associate who has probably never been in the situation those guys were in should be expected to cope with the pressure as well as guys with 100+ international caps then there is no real point trying to discuss it with you

Bit harsh on Scotland considering their are chasing 300 against the likes of Roach and pace of Russell which they would hardly faced before apart from few bowlers in County or Afghanistan bowlers.

Plus the fact it was played in Sydney Cricket ground probably at the same pitch as the 2 warm up games against england so batting wouldn't really be that easy and looking at the scorecard it suggest the boundary dimension played the part in the heavy scoring since it being a warm up game the wicket is on the side of the square.

Nice to see Scotland doing well got lots of good decent players coming through.

I wasn't arguing really and I did admit I may have been a bit harsh. I really don't have much idea about the batting capabilities of Scotland's no.7 and no.8. I thought they were as good as Ireland, who usually have decent players tthere. Maybe they are less experienced, I really have no idea.

I do think however, having got so close, chasing 13 off 2 overs with 4 or 5 wickets in hand feels like a missed opportunity.

Epic choke may have been a little harsh,, admittedly.

I have no idea why you had any expectations of Bangladesh. They were hopelessly pathetic even in the World T20 at home and were whooped aside by West Indies a few months ago.

Zimbabwe, Ireland, Scotland and Afghanistan are all better teams in these conditions.
