Christchurch Casino is the only Casino in town and I know when I lived there, there was no sports book, and having checked out the web site there still isn't.

Perhaps they should have done their research because there is no way he could have placed a bet on any cricket matches as far as I know.

"West Indies batsman Darren Bravo has been ruled out of the World Cup due to a low-grade tear to his left hamstring. Bravo suffered the injury while completing a quick single during West Indies' win over Pakistan in Christchurch last week. The injury had ruled him out of the side's matches against Zimbabwe and South Africa, but he was expected to make a comeback against India in Sydney on March 6. A team source, however, revealed on Thursday that the batsman was still unable to run and was taking longer than expected to recover."

SKY tonight showing the start of the Zimbabwe Ireland game on sky sports 4 during the overlap rather than on the red button , wondered why they didn't do this more as its not like there is anything else on between 3am and 7am

Seems the sensible option. Especially as there's quite a lot of viewers who use Sky Go which doesn't have the red button.

It looks tight at the bottom of group B. WI/Ire/Pak have four points with these to play.

West Indies v UAE.

Ireland v
Zimbabwe &
India&
Pakistan

Pakistan v
South Africa &
Ireland.

So if West Indies finish with a win they win they'll end up with 6 points.

If Ireland and Pakistan lose to the top sides in the group, the three will end with six each if Ireland beat Zimbabwe, and Pakistan beat Ireland.

We'll assume Zimbabwe will lose to India, meaning they can't qualify whatever they do (they can, but it won't happen, UAE would have to beat West Indies).

So a win against Zimbabwe tonight would be a massive step towards Ireland qualifying. But given their inferior run rate, it's still going to come down to a knockout against Pakistan. If Pakistan beat SA, and lose to Ireland, and Ireland lose to Zimbabwe, Ireland could go out on RR, despite having beaten both the other teams on six points.

Prediction, West Indies and Pakistan to progress in that order.

Okay, what has today's results done to the table? Is it NRR alone that decides who goes through, when two teams are tied on points?

Because Pakistan's win has seen them through, and it's now between West Indies and Ireland. If Ireland lose to India, they end on the same number of points, most likely. Does NRR carry more weight than the encounter between the two teams?

I am assuming Ireland will beat Zimbabwe, of course....

Sorry for the formatting, but the below has been copied from the ICC's CWC FAQ (enough TLA's?) page:

The team with the most wins in the
Pool
matches will be placed in the higher position.

If there are teams with equal points and equal wi
ns in the
Pool
matches then in such case the team with the higher net run rate in
the
Pool
matches will be placed in the higher position (refer to 21.10.5 below for the calculation of net run rate).

If
two or more teams are
still equal,
they will be orde
red according to
the head to head match
es
played between them
(points then
net run rate in those matches)
.

In the highly unlikely event that teams cannot be separated by the above
, teams will be ordered according to their original see
d-
ing.

If all matche
s within a
Pool
are a no result, the top four seeded teams will progress to the quarter
-
finals
