Has there been any batsman in this World Cup that has got the better of Starc?

A comprehensive victory for Aus really. Ind had a few close calls with 3 'umpires calls' going against them on lbw's in the first 20-30 overs of Aus innings and I guess Ind really needed everything to go their way to win. Yadav bowled poorly at times, and then the bowling to MJ wasn't very smart at the end, even if he did get lucky with a couple of edges.

Aus had real batting strength all the way down the order with Faulkner, Haddin and MJ at 7,8 and 9. When Ind got into trouble we knew we only had Jadeja at 7 and then it was Ashwin (good test bat but pretty useless in ODIs) and Shami who would probably be batting at 11 for Aus. Also, MJ, Starc and Hazlewood all bowled really well - and we let Maxwell bowl without attacking him, they also let Watson bowl with no pressure either. I know that we had lost wickets, but you still had to know that the only way to chase down 329 was to score runs against the Aus 4th and 5th bowler combination - once we didn't do that it just left us with far too much to do.

Some of the batting approach was poor - Kohli didn't show enough intent up front, Raina just played a poor shot ... and then Dhoni and Jadeja were blocking balls and trying to work singles when we needed 12-15 runs an over.

India can be very proud of their overall performance during the WC, but today just showed that Aus are still a far superior team to us in their home conditions. I'm not sure if Dhoni will retire - he may fancy another crack at the champions trophy and may carry on now that he doesn't have the burden of tests.

Historically, we've made 6 WC finals and won four of them. This will be NZ's first, which will be in our backyard We nearly took them down the other week, and we don't have any Poms in our bowling attack, therefore I reckon we will take them down on Sunday.

I see Mark Nicholas was at the presentation. Nice to see an Englishman make it so far into an ICC tournament.

It looks as though KP has been adopted in these parts, having been resigned by the Stars and also by Fox Sports.

It's been a numptifying day on cricinfo's face book page. Haven't seen so many numpties out at once since Tony Abbott swept to power.

Mitchell Starc's heroics spared Australia humiliation in the pool stage game, New Zealand were a far better team than the result suggested.

New Zealand are currently unbeaten in the tournament and have a psychological edge over the Australians. Those "You're worse than England" chants ringing fresh in the memory, Mitchell Johnson scarred by being smashed all over Auckland by Brendon McCullum and couldn't even break his arm.

New Zealand have simply nothing to lose, it's their tournament to win.

Starcs probably happy that he doesn't have to bowl to Smith, he seems to be on a different level to most batsmen at present. It just seems so easy for him at present
