Yes, some actions are not warranted on a cricket field. The Kiwi's were the perfect guests, but it would be become a little mundane if all the visiting teams were like that. I hope the Aussies don't get to nice, if that's possible ;-)

I think it'll be different this time. Last time, the Aussies didn't think England had been good winners in 09-13, and were keen to rub England's noses in it. True, England could respond in kind, but most of the Ashes winning side has gone. Anderson and Broad remain, and the captain actually backed Anderson when he verbally abused Jadeja at TB. So there is some potential for retribution from a pocket of the side, except... England are unlikely to win.

lets hope the aussie fielders, waiting to greet Mark Wood as he walks to the crease, have the decency to carry some sugar lumps in their pockets for Woody's horse.

Aussies would have to be daft to leave Starkers out for the first test

Yes not the classic way to start the Ashes, still can't live in the past and money talks in cricket these days.

Maybe when you guys come down under we can play Darwin, Cairns, and Townsville, then down to the old TCA in Hobart finishing off at Lilac Hill in Perth.

If they respective bodies fronted up enough cash, I am sure CA would consider it.

yuppie wrote:For the Aussies i think Starc has to play. Otherwise there will be just to much change after this series with too many of the older players about to leave the scene. Starc is one for the future, and this bowling line up could be a unit for the next 3 years. Harsh on Harris, but Australia has to prepare for the future and picking Starc does not weaken this Austrailan team. Australia have to decide what to do with Watson, and who will open with Warner. Other than this its a pretty settled team.

I can see the Aussie bats struggling and Wood will cause plenty of problems. The English bowling line up is certainly no push over. On top of this the English camp will also carry over plenty of good vibes from there recent performance's against NZ.

Agree on Starc but I'd definitely play Harris over Johnson in English conditions. MJ is half the bowler without bounce as his record outside the Southern Hemisphere shows.

However, I can't see Aus dropping Johnson - not for the first test at least. I think Harris will be the one to miss out in the first. If not him Starc.

Think we'll see some rotation amongst the Aussie quicks, with 5 tests being played over a relatively short period.

when I played club cricket way back, most of any talk came from the senior players. It never crossed my mind to say anything because if anything was said to me it went in one ear and out the other. I was too focused on either getting someone out or scoring runs.

The best retaliation is to ignore and eventually the immaturity will dry up.

Umps could do with intervening also, they are supposed to be the ones with the balls.

I was thinking the same thing, and they have likely been told a plan so as not to dent anyones confidence. If Lehman does it right the fast bowlers should relish it.

Sean Marsh off and running with his 15 first class century. What a dilemma for Australia.

Why did Kent field after winning the toss. Clarke must have been doing a jig all the way back to the lockers.
