Aussies must have concerns over Watson and Haddin but if they were deemed good enough to start the series I don't think they'll be dropped after one match.

The big difference between the two teams started well before the toss and that's the gutsy calls made by the selectors. Hats off to Baylis and whomever else was involved. :salute

Yep making gutsy calls and not being afraid to lose face if it doesn't come off is what makes for great leaders.

I would, but they will definitely not drop Haddin. I agree it's hard to drop someone after one match because it would be admitting to have made a mistake. Those are the big calls that you just have to make though.

Haddin has always been a guy that has been well up for the Ashes, so I think he deserves more than one failed test before they drop him.

The new ball bowling this morning was top notch, how Warner survived Broad's first spell I will never know. Broad bowled today as well as I think I have ever seen from him. Wood looks like a really useful player.

The pitch was fine all along, on day 1 there was movement in the air and even signs of inconsistent bounce from the off, some seam movement all the way through. One key fact also in my view was the pitch definately got quicker as the match went on, from day 3 and 4 the ball was coming on much nicer.

Haddin averages 15 since the last Ashes.

I would be very surprised to see Shane Watson in a baggy green again though. After Mitch Marsh scored two centuries in the warm up games, I have no idea why they didnt play him anyway, he has to come in for the next test. Watson got worked twice

Only Dave Warner scored more in the last Ashes series though. If there has been one consistent thread in his career, its the fact that he has always scored runs against England pretty well.

There was no impression that Watson would rescue the innings either time. And Mitch1 showed what could be done today.

Braddin looked a bit out of his depth with the bat.

Impressive performance from England, their bowlers in particular.

Watson and Haddin wont play in the second test I reckon.

England will most likely be unchanged.

I reckon Braddin will get another go.

Question for England will be if Wood can stand another game (with Finn to come in).

If Starc is out, then I could see Watto keeping his place and used as more of a bowler.

Australia could quite easily keep the same side and win at Lord's. I think Watson has a 40+ average against England, but I've suddenly lost belief in him.
