I wonder which cheek Cook's tongue was in when he said Morgan still has a chance to return to test cricket.

Which cheek, or whose?

Morgan has done nothing in fc cricket for years. He previously struggled in Test cricket. As I said previously, the unlikeliness of him playing Tests again was one of the reasons he was appointed in ODIs as it wouldn't put pressure on Cook (though there are rumours that Steely is going after the Ashes).

Surely it would be the last, final irony if he came back to Tests after playing IPL ahead of leading England, after the grief KP got for expressing interest in playing more IPL. It's already hard to credit.

Considering we have an England coach that's principle claim to fame is ODI and T20 cricket, it may not be so foolish to believe he admires Morgan. The 14 players in Spain include a number of one day players so adding Hales and Morgan is not out of the question.

Review of some previous Ashes boot camps. Sure to confirm the prejudices of many.

First I've heard of the Staffordshire tour. ECB have done well to keep that under wraps.

It didn't make KP happy. They had a long tour including the second part of back to back Ashes, and a few players (all?) resented being away from their families. You'd think the last thing they'd need is to spend more time together. Team building could be built into the tour. I think they all went to Uluru together. They could have done some art and other cultural stuff while dwelling on the damage done globally to native people by European expansion, and how that imposes on their coming cricket match. Rather than solving pretend crimes.

I find Cook's attempts to link the ODI aides's performance to him fairly nauseating. Would it be so hard to give credit where it's due?

By Cook not captaining or playing in the OD team must be a positive thing. He should take some credit for that.... :rasta

Yes I just remember that. Didn't Pietersen leave for the birth of one of his children?

Yep that's fair enough.

KP left the WCT20 that England won for one birth, and I think left an Ashes tour for another other. Don't know how many kids he has.

I find it slightly amusing that having said England lacked "real leadership" during the World Cup, he is now praising the leadership of the same Eoin Morgan who captained at the World Cup.

Only one (Dylan). Not aware of him leaving an Ashes tour. He went home injured during the ODIs after the first whitewash and was rested for the ODIs after the second whitewash.
