Looks like its been an interesting competition. But with an amazingly complicated format.

So these teams don't exactly qualify for the WC. They qualify for an eight team play off, including BD&Zim, the top two going into a ten team competition with the top eight.

Yep, basically just another qualifier. The ICC will say it's a 16 team tournament and that associates get more opportunities but really it's just the same as the 10 team ODI WC.

Do you mean the preliminary round for the 2016 World T20 or the next ICC World T20 Qualifier?

Even this kind of system would be better than the next WC plan though.

personally don't really see the hate for the format or the aspect.

Think of the positives
Games televised, Sponsors present, Technically part of the same tournament aka broadcaster are forced to show it, Associates are actually playing games.

The only cons are the associates don't play big teams.

Far better than the 2019 world cup.

No idea why associate or the players are complaining considering if ICC did treat it has a qualifying comp Tv coverage would be limited, Less people will be watching it and top of that less associates will take part in World cup.

could make a better format though, 4 groups of 4, top 2 qualify for a next league phrase of 2 groups of 4.

Thinking purely about money and more associates getting games/chances this is a far better T20 format.

I believe the associates/players are not happy with the World Twenty20 being a 4 year event from next year, in addition to a 10 team World Cup. As it means fewer matches and less funding.

Only downfall with the World Twenty20 1st round format is only the group winners qualify. If there was a 3rd qualifying place decided by a runners up playoff, that would give all teams something to play for.

Yep, lose one game in the group stage and you're almost out already.

Ireland would be better off losing the 3rd place play-off tomorrow as they would go in Zimbabwe's group instead of Bangladesh's.
