It seems Wood might not make it. https://twitter.com/Jesse_Hogan/status/ ... 0391160832 Plunkett or Footitt?

if it had been moores still in charge almost certainly plunkett as he will be seen as the safer option

a 3 man seam attack of broad, finn and plunkett feels a bit samey so footitt might get a chance , its risky tho as we only really play 3 frontline bowlers atm

I think they'll probably go with experience and pick Plunkett.

Certainly the first big decision for our Trevor. Puds would be the safe pick if Wood is out, but Footitt would give the attack a new option it has been sorely missing.

If there is bad news about Wood it hasn't reached the commentators on SKY yet.

Strange thing is, Nick Knight on CWOTV on sunday was talking about the team as if wood was already out.

I think it would be a brave call to go for Foottit in this test. At the Oval when England may need to force a result he might not be a bad trump card to play, but I think Plunkett is probably the best choice.

I don't know why but I like the "new" (last 18-24 months) Plunkett, he just has something about him.

We quit rightly think a left hand bowler would be a useful addition to England but Plunkett is a bowler who bowls around the wicket to right hand batsmen with great skill. I haven't seen any other right arm bowler do so with the accuracy that he shows, his short pitched bowling at pace is especially accurate and I seem to remember a leg stump yorker that took a wicket. I can imagine such a delivery to Smith being very interesting.

Maybe Wood is in Simon Jones' oxygen tent.

Telegraph reporting that if Wood isn't fit then Footit is likely to play. Plan A was for Wood to open the bowling with Broad.

I don't see that happening. I can't believe they would give a debut to a bowler in such a crucial test.

I agree, would be a big risk and I assumed they'd go for the experience of Plunkett.
