'Jason Holder has replaced Denesh Ramdin as captain of West Indies for the upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka, which starts on October 14. A WICB media release stated that Holder's appointment "was recommended by the selection panel and endorsed unanimously by the directors during a teleconference meeting on Wednesday."...Opening batsman Kraigg Brathwaite will be Holder's deputy in Sri Lanka. The squad contains two uncapped players in fast bowler Carlos Brathwaite and left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican, both of whom play for Barbados. In a like-for-like selection, Warrican replaces Veerasammy Permaul, who was part of West Indies' squad during their home series against Australia. Ramdin retains his place as wicketkeeper.'

Andre Fletcher and Johnson Charles in the same side. There will be zero strike rotation

Once again, the WIndies run the possibility of going into the first Test undercooked.

this is one of the worst teams ever put out by the West Indies. Not a single half century...127-6.

Kraig top score with 46. Batsmen out...Chandrika 18 bravo 21 Samuels 0 Blackwood 3 dowrich 3. Hope and ramdin need to save us from embarrassment tomorrow because after them it's the bits and pieces cricketers holder and Carlos.

Yes, the strike teams were worse...would you deny me my glorious exaggeration, Arthur?

A depressing comeback...233-3. Centuries from Jayasundera and the keeper. Taylor didn't bowl...I hope he's not a worry for the first Test.

In the Packer era, when WI lost a lost their first team to WSC, no future stars came through. You would have thought they would, as WI cricket was strong, and it was expected that the talent ran deep. The only players I remember making their debut that lasted, were David Murray, and Bacchus (Fyed?), neither became greats. The team they had, struggled to compete v the Packer ravaged Australia team.

The side of twelve years ago that Lara kept afloat was probably better than the present one. And everyone banged on about the state of WI cricket then. At least they had BCL and Shiv.

That's what makes this current situation even more depressing....

Over 400 now, with only five wickets down. When will the Board XI declare, and give our guys another chance to bat? When Siriwardana gets his ton?

According to the dates of the match, the game is over. But cricinfo just says stumps.

No wickets for the WI spinners might be a concern.
