Wahab has been cleared of wrong doing regarding ball tampering. It'd be good if Joe Root apologised for accusing him of it so publicly. I'm surprised he wasn't fined. I thought Wood's re-referral was out of order too and might have warranted a word by the match ref.

Root has nothing whatsoever to apologise for. When batting against two spin bowlers who are already getting turn the last thing you expect to see is an opposing player kicking the ball along the ground a couple of times. Was Wahab accused of ball tampering? I've not heard anything to suggest he was. According to Bayliss the match referee told him he had spoken to umpires and they were satisfied that nothing happened that affected the condition of the ball. Bayliss accepted that and the matter was closed.

Bayliss went to the match ref, and Farbrace later played it down to the press. Good cop, bad cop. Root made a stamping motion, and complained at great length, while making a stamping gesture. That's an unfounded accusation of cheating. To me, he was completely in the wrong and has unfairly called into question a fellow pro with no good cause. Farbrace is currently suggesting Wabab was wrong because he misled Root into thinking he was cheating... Which just makes things worse. In my view, Farbrace need to be kept away from a mic.

I see Warne is desperate to promote himself again. First he wants to coach Rashid now he's offering his services to Shah as a coach.

Obviously it's not all good, but the SR is remarkable.

I'd imagine the strike rate is bulked up by the series against India. Any bowler with an average of over 35 has far from proved themselves as meriting a slot as a front line bowler. The fact is with Ali, unless batsmen are going to go after him he is unlikely to get wickets.

He does take genuine wickets, though I'm not sure wickets taken to attacking shots count any less. Clearly he's not going to tie down an end (surprisingly, seeing as he's done ok in ODIs). Maybe England need to look at how he's being captained, with fields set back to gift singles. If we're just going on average, his is standard for an England spinner (the same as Tufnell and Emburey, better than Giles). Clearly he's learning the job as he goes, and should be left out for a better spinner. Though as the first more specialist spinner to test his spot, I'm not convinced Rashid will be preferable.

Looks like Taylor for Buttler then. I presume Taylor will bat at five, though I would prefer to see Bell there.

Most top spin bowlers have something about them, a little feisty. Both Rashid and Moeen are rather accepting and even their follow though lacks energy.

I'm guessing Taylor will bat at five, and Bairstow and Stokes move down one to six and seven.

Swann seems to like Mo quite a lot.

There's a lot to like about him. He's a nice young man but he should try to discard some of that niceness when bowling. Not suggesting he goe wild but a little more energy and a touch of agro wouldn't go amiss. In this series off spin hasn't been very threatening for either side.

Complaining about Moeen Ali's bowling is a bit like complaining to your shop keeper that the "Bombay Badboy" Pot Noodle he just sold you didnt live up to your high culinary expectations.

Just like the Pot Noodle, Moeen serves an experience that at its best is "barely palatable", and anyone who expected different when they bought that little plastic cup for 70p, handed over the money, then patiently waited for the kettle to boil thinking they were about to be treated to a dinner of kings, must either have been absolutely insane, or have a severe addiction to crystal meth.

Moeen has exceeded all expectations since being in the team.... Im not sure what people expected from him, he was a part timer in a Div 2 county side who has been played as a front line spinner in an Ashes series, and against Asian teams notorious for playing spin. He wasnt going to bamboozle and tear these teams apart like Murali.
