Next test starts this Thursday.

I expect England to be unchanged.

There's a rumour that Pakistan might bring in an off spinner who's currently being tested for an illegal action, that would be rather a sad decision.

" That could throw an intriguing couple of names into the frame. A long shot would be Saeed Ajmal, who tormented England here in 2012, but has had to remodel his action and was not effective for Worcestershire in the County Championship this year, while another option may be offspinner Bilal Asif even though his action is under scrutiny after the one-day series in Zimbabwe.

Bilal was reported after taking 5 for 25 in Harare, but the reporting and assessment process laid down by the ICC allows him to continuing bowling until the results of the tests are known. The testing has to take place within 14 days of the report and he is due to travel via Dubai to Chennai, one of the ICC's approved testing centres, on October 18 and be tested the following day. He would be available for selection until the results come through, a process that takes a further 14 days and means, in theory, he would at least be available for the Dubai Test starting on October 22. "
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

I'm expecting England to go with the same side and Pakistan to bring in a spinner for a pace bowler.

Posted that on the random cricket thread. Can't believe these people actually get paid to come up with these suggestions. Ridiculous idea even by ICC standards.

How will the batter be able to identify the shiny side with a green/yellow ball.

It's less predictable who Azhar will come in for, if available.

Would definitely be Shan Masood. Harsh on Masood but he's the weakest of their top 6.

Azhar's had no more success as an opener than Masood. Maybe Shehzad would get another go if they were going to replace the opener? Shoaib has made a difficult decision for them, and the only way past it is for Azhar to open, or remain unavailable.

So, Bilal Asif has been called up (what happened to Zafar Gohar?). Presumably, visa permitting.

It maybe with the rules that Bilal can play but certainly not within the spirit of the game. There would be hell on if England contemplated such a move.

Zafar Gohar can't get a visa now as he has just come back from UAE. He'll have to wait a while until he can get another one.
