the crowd seems to be made up entirely of expats, sort of makes the whole thing pointless unless your average american tunes in to watch it which is unlikely

It was always going to be purely expats when they decided on the price range of $50-$175. Only 5% of the tickets are at $50. It's also not on TV in America.

This is a really good read on the subject, written by the former CEO of the American Cricket Foundation: http://jamieumbc.com/2015/10/23/an-open ... nd-sachin/

2nd innings was kind of fun. Punter and Sanga v Akhtar and Murali. The less said the better about the first innings...

Surprised people are reading too much on this.
This was designed for the rich Americans expats of indian/pakistani.
50-100K indian/pakistan Americans come to watch those nations play in ICC world cups and pay big money for them.

This is literally designed so their can pay big money to their old favourite stars.

Everyone know that's what it's designed for but i hate how it's being promoted as this opportunity to introduce cricket to America and to get Americans interested in cricket.

I am okay with a retired players' league but there has to be some sort of age/recency limit. I couldn't be bothered to watch it live but watching the highlights, a part of me felt a bit sad seeing legends like Akram, Ambrose and Walsh, all in their 50s trundling along to bowl in what was being portrayed as a competitive match. On the other hand, Akthar, a recent retiree and still "only" 40 was still quite pacy. And of course the likes of Sangakkara and Vettori, two of the top players in the World Cup recently are just way too good for this nonsense. Both of them would walk into their respective country's playing XI right now. Even Sehwag, in the Ranji Trophy this season, has played at a much higher standard than this tournament had to offer. This is not cricket thats worth showing on TV. Heck, even the Celebrities Cricket League involving Bollywood celebrities is better.

Americans will have a very wrong interpretation of cricket in that case. I hope they haven't watched much of this.

From the little I've seen of this: The players seemed to have a good time, there were decent crowds, the crowds had a good time, the standard of cricket was shocking.
