WI tour of Australia, Dec 2 - Jan 7

Postby mikesiva » Wed Nov 11, 2015 10:29 am

"West Indies have named an unchanged squad for their upcoming Test tour of Australia. The same 15 men who took on Sri Lanka in October will make the trip to Australia, led by captain Jason Holder and vice-captain Kraigg Brathwaite."

http://www.espncricinfo.com/australia-v ... 39495.html

Well, this squad did so brilliantly against a weak Sri Lanka, so why change it?
West Indies squad Jason Holder (captain), Kraigg Brathwaite (vice-captain), Devendra Bishoo, Jermaine Blackwood, Carlos Brathwaite, Darren Bravo, Rajindra Chandrika, Shane Dowrich, Shannon Gabriel, Shai Hope, Denesh Ramdin, Kemar Roach, Marlon Samuels, Jerome Taylor, Jomel Warrican

Is this the last serious tour of Australia by the West Indies?

I can not see many people coming out to watch this series. WI cricket still in the doldrums and going no where fast.

Warner could reach 20 Test hundreds by the end of this series.

I think it is. I'll be going to the Boxing Day Test with the likelyhood that this will be my last chance to see the West Indies in a Test match. The first time I saw them live at the ground in a Test, a young leg spinner absolutely ran through them.

This is poor.

OK, I can understand that The Windies' board may be just as responsible for the short lead-in time, but to give them a warm-up in Brisbane (where conditions should be fairly familiar to them) just before the first test in Hobart, where conditions may well be quite hard for them to adapt is not very hospitable by the hosts.

Three Names Nile is in the Aussie squad for the Hobart Test, and someone called Scott Boland.

According to the Guardian, Scott has lost 22kg recently! Any confirmations?

I prefer "The Weatherman - Coulter-Nile always sounded like Cool-to-mild when I first heard his name. I haven't heard of him all season.

Boland took seven wickets in an innings against WA last weekend. I wonder if The Weatherman was one of his victims.

No idea of his weight loss, I first saw him in the BBL last year, or year before. He didn't look especially porkie.

Ryan Sidebottom (not the evergreen Yorkshire bowler) is named in the Cricket Australia XI squad for the warm up match against West Indies.

NCN is a good call up, although he won't play. Scott Boland is a dark horse. He's been hovering in and out of the Vic squad for a few years. I haven't seen much of him. I wouldn't have thought he was Test standard.

I suppose Aus have lost their first choice pace attack of a year ago. Could it be Mitch3 is now one of the three best seamers?

Anyway, looks like Patto, Sid and Haze, plus Mitch3 and Lino. Which seems pretty good. Though I'm not 100% impressed with what I've seen of Patto- he's never got much lateral movement. Siddle can struggle for that too.

Mitch3, Siddle and Hazelwood will enjoy bowling in Hobart.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Quite a bit of fan-chat that Doug Bollinger should be picked. I thought we'd seen the last of Dougie.
