Karu hits 49 not out in SL's 97-5.

This is not going to be an easy tour for Sri Lanka.

hopefully it isn't a banned performing enhancing drug.
remember having a nice debate about this before whether these drug actually help cricketers or not compared to other sport.

Although it could be anything IE Mars bars, energy drinks or illegal recreational drugs.
could be something small as tablet to get better from the doctors.

I think it could only make a batsman stronger or a bowler to be quicker. Not really going to make much of a difference, if any.

not really can still come from medicine.
http://www.anabolicsteroids.net/steroids-in-sports.php
if he suffers from Asthma he would fail the test if he took medicine to treat it.
lol apparently if he took Viagra he would also fail the test.

Saying that article explains that it would be quite beneficial to a bowler and not a batsman.
Quicker recovery time for injuries and niggles don't really hurt much.

I wonder if he took herbal medicine, Upul tharanga got banned after 2011 world cup.

He wouldn't take anabolic steroids for asthma. He could take corticosteroids for that.

That article says anabolic steroids were created in the thirties to fight AIDS?!

good spot Arthur.
Didn't read the article properly but he could still have taken it as a medicine.
Chemically derived from testosterone, anabolic steroids can be used for treating diseases like some types of cancer, connective tissue disease, blood disorders, some sexual disorders, and intractable arthritis.

Anyway Sri lanka interim coach is saying he took medicine to treat foot bite from insect.

Pretty sure giving AS for 'sexual performance' doesn't mean that you can test positive for viagra, which is just a vasodilator.

If it was for a bite, it would almost certainly be an anti inflammatory, probably hydrocortisone, which sports people take all the time. But you do have to have permission, I believe.

Yeah you have to take permission.
Although it could be a genuine mistake IE they took a new medicine wasn't in the list they checked but was added at a later date.
Although they should know better.
