The most strong decision, although not totally expected is Raina being dropped from ODI squad. He has experience of 223 ODI matches, averaging 35.46 @ SR 93.76, with 5 tons and 36 * 50. Also can bowl few overs and is an outstanding fielder. He was dropped about an year back as well given his bad patch. I guess this could also be a horses for courses selection and he will be back for some ODI series in sub continent. Offcourse he is in the T20 squad for the same tour. Makes lot of sense to keep him in T20 squad considering the T20 cup in near future.

interesting that Aaron hasn't been given a go, thought they might try him in Aus - Bhuvi has been dropped.

For the T20's Yuvi's return is interesting, as is Nehra's. If they do well, then they'll be playing the T20 WC.

In the Ind's selection is a bit light on the batting - Dhoni's on the wane and the lower middle order looks weak.

Overall, I think it's stupid for Ind to be playing an away series in aus just before the T20 WC is due to be played in Ind - playing in foreign conditions and the loss of confidence factor if (as is probable) get beaten just isn't going to help us win the T20 WC.

Raina had a really poor ODI series against SA in Ind as well

Australia wiil be without their entire World Cup winning attack and Smith is not fully fit either. India have a great chance. Surprised to see Harbhajan dropped from the ODI squad, had a much better series than Axar Patel vs SA.

Great to see Yuvraj back ...........(from an Australian perspective) :)

One day series to boost the coffers of both India and Australia.

So far i can not think of a more limp cricket summer then what has been dished up so far. This is not good for Australian cricket.

Australia squad: Smith (c), Warner, Bailey, Boland, Hazlewood, Faulkner, Finch, M Marsh, S Marsh, Maxwell, Richardson, Paris, Wade.

Good squad. I like the selection of Paris. One of Lynn, Khawaja or Klinger should've been picked though.

I assume this is the ODI squad?

At the expense of who, though, Dan.

I am surprised that Lynn wasn't picked, as well.

People really need to stop the Klinger hype. His overall records are far from astonishing (unlike say, Voges), he is just a late bloomer who has been in excellent form over the last couple of years. Thats about it. He is not the next great batsman in the making, nor is he a long term option. Australia are certainly not short of limited overs batting talent so why should there be an obligation to debut a 35 year old just because he is in great form when the team is doing well and there are better, younger long term options in the reserves. Chris Lynn is a really exciting player and I hope he is in the World T20 squad but his 50 over record is nowhere near as good as his T20 or FC one and he didn't take his chances on the A tour. Also, a part of the problem I believe is that there is room for only 4 specialist, non-bowling batsmen in the XI, with Maxwell, M Marsh, Faulkner and Wade (rightly) occupying the slots from 5-8 (not necessarily in that order). Smith, Warner and Finch pick themselves and Bailey had a good series against England and has had a good domestic season till date (even in FC cricket, which is generally his weak format) so he bats at 4. So thats your top 4 and even if Bailey loses form, I'm not sure Lynn is quite suited to the No.4 role, which requires you to be an excellent rotator of the strike. Thats something Lynn needs to improve upon if he is to get into the ODI side (rotation of strike I believe is more important in this format than the 2 extreme formats). At present, he looks more suited to the No.5/6 finisher's role, which as stated above, needs to be occupied by the allrounders to provide the right balance. I'm sure he'll improve and get there eventually, i.e. good enough to bat in the top 4 but I guess its fair enough that he has to wait for now. Hopefully, he'll be included for the T20Is.

I would've definitely liked to have seen Khawaja ahead of Shaun Marsh though. The selector has explained Lyon's omission by citing the need for him to play more T20s in the BBL in the build up to the World T20. Hopefully, they actually mean it and he is considered for the World T20 rather than being ditched last moment like he was for the World Cup last year.

Great to see the back of Twatson by the way. Can't see him ever getting back into the ODI squad and whilst I don't mind him so much for the World T20 (purely due to his T20 success in Indian conditions in the IPL) but his recent form in the BBL and the Matador should see miss out on that as well (unless of course, this snub gives him a wake up call and he sorts his s**t out in the remaining BBL games).

Interesting series ahead. Really, really hope the new bowling attack holds its own as with Starc and Cummins almost certainly ruled out, these are the bowlers who Australia will have to take into the World T20. Slightly surprised by the exclusion of Behrendorff. He has been excellent in the BBL and has a good record across all formats. Hohns said it was perhaps a bit too early after his comeback from an injury layoff but that he is going in the right direction and is on the radar. Hopefully he is picked for the T20Is or the last 2 ODIs. Hazlewood will surely be rested at some point with the NZ Tests coming up as he is pretty much the only first choice Test seamer who is fit right now and has well documented workload issues.

Fair enough what you say about the top four and Lynn, Shanks, but it is a squad not a team. Backup is needed, versatile backup at that. At the moment, that backup is SMarsh.I would like to see Lynn in that spot.

His career average in List A cricket is 48.58. That's the 13th highest of all time. You obviously have high expectations.

really surprised Lynn is not in the squad - Christian and Behrendorff also a bit unlucky. Someone must have them in their BBL fantasy league team!

Watson probably feels he should be in the squad, but doesn't seem to be in great nick
