Wonder if Broad will go for the 2nd appeal and get ECB bosses involved.
or is that only available to the Indian players.

A draw in the end, then, yet it feels like a victory for SA and a defeat for England. After a terrible start to the series for SA, they will feel that they are right back in charge, despite being 1-0 down with 2 to play. They'll fancy a 2-1 series victory, I reckon.

Do you think?

Although England got a big score, at no stage were SA ever in trouble in their innings.

In fact the only two occasions when any team was in trouble in this match it was England each time, on the first day at 223/5 and then again today.

I'm quite happy with the draw overall.

Agreed SA are right back in the series, but not sure they're in charge. Admittedly two difficult venues for England to go to now with the altitude factor, but I think it is currently even stevens in terms of team strength and alot will depend on the two bowling attack leaders, and SA's fragile batting and England's fragile top order.

It would be interesting to know what the England dressing room reaction was when play ended. I remember the Aussies at OT in 05... that was when the world knew that England had got them.

South Africa becoming quite the experts in entertaining draws. First the blockathon v India and now this.

Blimey.

It's normally England captains that get terminated when these sides meet.

Reading between the lines of his press conference, he wanted to give up the captaincy after India, but was in such a lean trot that he was worried he might have been dropped. Having just scored 200, he can give it up without concern for his place.

SA have been struggling to find batsmen as it is without dropping someone with the class and record of Amla.

Would SA have really considered doing that even if he'd 'failed' here? Of course nobody is indispensable but England would have been delighted.

England still have batting issues of their own despite scoring 629 and not having to face Steyn much or Philander.
