The fact is if this game was played in the Sub C, people would be going crazy over the pitch.
The criticism pitches in Sub c get is shambolic.

I'm not convinced people go crazy over it? Anyway, some England players do have problems facing spin, making draws hard to come by.

really?
Literally everyone downplays any Sub C players records in Sub C.
Literally everyone says must have been scored in a flat deck.
literally Everyone downplays anything about subcontinent players.

Back again. Another 10 overs of batting should do it.

yeah, this forum quite good on that aspect.
but a lot of it still goes on in world cricket.
Sub C being flat is very similar to when Botham/holding were having a rant about flat pitches and draws, even though the number of draw since 2005 will be far lower than ever before, certainly far lower then Botham/holding played cricket.

How anyone can defend this pitch is baffling, especially after 1 good day of cricket.
Test cricket pitches needs movement otherwise the wickets are poor.

So funny how past stereotype are still used today.

Indian pitches are totally different to what their were before 2010.
remember a guy came up with a stat that India are the 2nd highest scoring average after Australia which was the most misleading stat ever since 2010 india the lowest in the table since the average total around 250.

Just like how everyone thinks pitches were better in 80s/90s even though their were loads of draws and pitches now are so flat, even though the draw is at a record low.

bairstow looks like a different player

perhaps no longer playing just as a batsmen has lifted some pressure off him or is it just moving down the order a couple of spots

why does the pitch need to be defended?

as i said before had there not been so many dropped catches the game would have almost certainly ended in a result or it would have been a very tight draw

this pitch isnt ideal that is fairly obvious but it isnt sub standard in anyway, there is plenty of pace and bounce

Depend on your view backfoot punch.
This pitch won't get viewers/new people into the game, These days people like watching wickets and wins.

Agree the pitch isn't that bad because of the pace of the wicket, but Agnew claims that people should stop bitching about the pitch because of one good day is wrong.

The fact is a lot of people stopped watching this game while Eng/SA were batting.
maybe the drop catches might have change it but because of a late collapse doesn't mean this pitch is suddenly great and get viewers into the game.

The reason this pitches got so many complaints for the past 3 days was that no one wanted to watch the game.
the sooner people in charge or cover cricket understand that the better.

There must be less pressure, knowing tons are a bonus and not essential.

Read a good article on the India vs South Africa series,
Ratings, Viewers and people talking about the game was an all time high.
Media analyst putted it down to the entertaining pitches, these days people want wickets and victories in test matches.
Since India had sporting wickets the ratings have rocketed.
the old pitches sent Kohli, Dhoni and people in india to sleep.

Imho pitches like this and perth won't get new people into test cricket.

Even the same things are seen in UK, the Ashes test which england won in 2-3 days rated far higher than the ones which england slowly won in 2013.
Ratings in the UK are also declining every year.

Bairstow is playing like he usually does for Yorkshire and looks like he's getting to grips with international cricket, can only get better from here.
