Hales misses out on a hundred.

Haven't seen much of him this series, but from what I've see today I can't see him as a long term England opener. He is way too cumbersome and moves about all over the place before the ball is delivered. I think he'll really struggle against most half decent international attacks. Think he also really struggles to go from attack to defence and vice versa and can only do one or the other effectively. Don't think he's cut out to do much of the latter.

He was fortunate to get to 94 after Tucker's generosity to him in the early sixties, not to mention an easy drop early on. Personally I don't know what to make of him as a test batsman, he does look rather mechanical in his movements maybe it's because he's pretty tall, 6'3" maybe.

Been watching the football, but did see the edge that went down yesterday. He is scoring runs at the moment, could go either way for him

A rather fortuitous 94 for Hales, but add in two scores of 80 odd that makes him worthy of a longer run - Compton would have given his hind teeth for that - as would Vince.

Can't carry on for long with big questions over 3 of the top 5 so someone has to come in for Compton one would think - that seems to be the general consensus.

Have to been seen to give them a crack before they do the inevitable and recall.....
