Smith was going better than most, and captain too. If Australia always planned this, better say so before the tour so there's no misunderstanding.

Marsh, Hazlewood and Hastings in for Smith, Lyon and Henriques.

Warner to captain.

Dilshan's last ODI. His 330th. While he's the 11th highest ODI run scorer, he's only the fourth highest Sri Lankan, such is their prowess in the format. 3/5 top scorers are from SL.

Retirement represents the end of an era for SL.

226 for SL.

Shouldn't be enough in theory but Aus have had a poor tour so far and they're batting under lights.

It'll be interesting to see how SL and Australia respond to a new era where 444 is now possible in a fifty over contest. Can they catch up with a new reality for the limited overs game?

444 is hardly the new reality. What was the score between SA and Aus more years ago than I like to think when "aussie shane warnie" crashed and burned on the BBC forum?

Just a statistical outlier that may be bettered next week or next decade depending on the progression of the bell curve.

Just teasing! England are catching up with everyone else, including Australia and SL.
