Steve O'Keefe has taken a 5for in the tour game and looks almost certain to be selected as the second spinner for the first Test. I've always liked O'Keefe, but as the years fly by, he'll soon be facing a lot of competition for that second spinner spot... which doesn't come up very often.

My Oz team for the first Test;

Dave Warner
Joe Burns
Usman Khawaja
Steve Smith
Adam Voges
Mitchell Marsh
Peter Nevill
Steve O'Keefe
Mitchell Starc
Josh Hazlewood
Nathan Lyon.

Most of the Australian bats seem to making some runs in the tour game at present. Am sure though they wont be facing to much quality spin at present.

No Australian bat gone on to post a big score yet.

Burns and Smith have got 50's. Marsh at 6 still makes the top 6 look pretty weak.

Interesting from the bowling viewpoint . O'Keefe five wickets while Lyon went wicketless . Not that I expect him to displace him :) ; but must encourage the idea of playing both spinners.

I see O'Keefe has now made 62 as well ! Certainly pushing his claims...

I would think Aus will have to go for 2 spinners, and M Marsh might well have to bowl a few extra overs.

The Australian spinners have gone through SL in the second innings.

O'Keefe taking 10 wickets in the match and certain to start the first test now.

A very good hit out for Australia.

Surprising that O'Keefe hasn't had more of a chance. Not that he hasn't replaced Lyon, but he has been picked so rarely as back up on tour parties.

Many would make comment about him being a 'bowling' consultant. Not me though.

Interesting that SLC 'saved Murali three times'. From what?

Just been reading that. They certainly are.

The whole consternation over what type of pitch prepared for the practice match is a strange one. Seems to me that the SL authorities have no problem admitting to doctoring pitches and even go so far as to (wish to) undermine Aus' preparations with a different sort of doctoring.

No one comes out of this soap opera looking good, especially not SLC.
