Not many people expected us to chase down the runs, so we can make excuses for poor batting, but there was the normal sense of inevitably to it all. We could have had ten go's at it and may have got home once.
I can't agree with that budget. The pitch was docile with no demons for pace or spin, the Pakistan attack only threatened occasionally and the outfield was lightning fast. Most dismissals were self inflicted and the batting of Ballance, Bairstow and Woakes showed that sensible application was possible.
