Ends a nine match unbeaten run for England after their defeat in SA last winter.
Over the last year, England have lost only five games, won twelve, with a tie and a no result.
Main caveat is that nine of those games have been against Pakistan. Even so, a good effort.
In that period, Root and Hales are the top run scorers in ODIs, with Roy then following de Kock. Hales has equal most tons with four. Buttler has the best SR of anyone to have scored more than 300 runs (139, including two tons and three fifties). Buttler has the second best average of anyone to have scored more than 300 runs, behind Rohit.
Not as good for the bowlers, but Woakes especially, with three 4-fers, and Topley and Plunkett with good SRs and econs have been best.
Excellent fielding from Stokes in particular, but Plunkett has held some amazing catches.
Well done. Everyone has been good. In the peripheries, Vince batted once and scored a fifty.
Rashid had a good home season. If we must look for negatives, it was disappointing and surprising, that they went to Broad last winter. Jordan has been expensive overall, and Dawson went for a few on debut. Morgan must do more to justify keeping Bairstow out the team.
I always say that everybody's right.
