For the tests:

Cook
2
Root
4
Stokes
Bairstow
Ali
Woakes
Rashid
Broad
11

2 & 4 likely to be Duckett and Ballance, with a chance that Habeeb can force his way in with convincing performance in the warm up game.
11 either Batty or Ball (possibly Finn) depending on conditions, with an outside possibility of an additional batsman getting this slot.

In 2010 it was the spin of Swann and Tredwell that took most wickets so considering how unreliable Rashid and Moeen are as wickwt takers surely Batty must play, possibly with those two.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Would like to see Jos Buttler replacing Morgan soon. Bangladesh played well but keep collapsing under pressure which needs to be improved

POTS was Stokes. Think I would have gone for Rashid.

Moeen and Stokes allow us to play 3 seamers and 3 spinners

Something like

Cook
Duckett
root
Ballance
bairstow
moeen
stokes
rashid
batty
broad
jimmy

Very harsh on woakes but you have to pick the best team for the conditions not the best team on paper

And moeen and rashid can't be trusted yet, can't see why batty is in the squad if he isn't going to play

Jimmy isn't going, so Woakes might still get a slot in your team bfp :)

Just got in from work and too knackered to start a new thread...

Duckett going well in the practice game against a decent looking BDXI.

Was wondering why Sabbir never bowled in the ODI series. Taken 2/13 in this game.

First blood to Duckett in the race to open alongside Cook. Given his performances in the ODI series I don't really see how he wouldn't get the opening berth, it would take something momumental from Hameed to usurp him right now.

Cook
Duckett
Root
Bairstow
Stokes
Ballance
Ali
Woakes
Rashid
Broad
Ball

Is what I would be leaning towards right now.

I really worry about having Mo in the side right now to be honest...really struggles to take wickets or keep any control....and is inconsistent at best with the bat these days...i'd be temped to push Woakes up to 7 and have Batty over Mo..

Bit harsh to call his batting "inconsistent..these days" Yes he does get out cheaply in some apparently careless ways sometimes ; but he averaged over 60 in the recent Test summer. Such figures aren't too bad for a number 7/8 , I'd have thought.
His bowling is a different matter. However if he is one of three spinners in the side in this series , as seems quite likely , the control issue might not matter so much. Even on his bad days he does tend to pick up the odd important wicket.
