Still have no idea how Gary Wilson is a professional cricketer.

All too easy for SA, JP finishes it off with 4-15

Soon to be a Test cricketer no less.

Well, that was a wonderful developmental opportunity for the Irish.

Staggers me that Ireland will get test status...they should have had it a few years ago...it's far too late now....their best players have moved on, and they don't have the required strength in depth etc now to suceed in tests..

When is Ireland meant to be getting test cricket? I thought they had to get certain results over the next 2 years, and the earliest they could be granted test status was 2019 if those results went the right way for them.

What am i missing?

As far as I am aware the ICC is set to award Ireland and Afghanistan full member status this coming week, I wasn't aware of any caveats.

There is a meeting shortly to discuss the proposal but if Ireland are granted test status - which seems likely - they won't be able to play test cricket until 2019 at the earliest.

I thought they had to win the intercontinental cup for a few years, and then play and beat the 10th best test team to get test status by 2019? This is a big ask to do.

What has changed?

That proposal was a while ago. Changed quite a bit since then.

So there is none of this now? They just get voted in to test cricket?

As far as I am aware that's how it'f going to be after the 2 Division plans were dropped. Given how big of a change this is going to be, should the 2 teams be promoted, there isn't a lot of coverage about it in the cricketing press.

Not much press on it, i have been trying to find some definitive stuff on this. its all pretty vague what im reading, with most stuff still referring to the older set up. So potentially next week we go from 10 test nations to 12. That's a pretty big shake up.

Wonder if South Africa are brave enough to stick with this team for Australia. Think most warranted it.

Would have thought that Bavuma would be left out for Amla?
