I've seen a couple of very nice catches in the little I have seen today. Good sign for the Aussies.

So a under prepared Starc is bowling well.

A very similar pattern to the 2012 Test between these 2 sides so far. Lets hope the comparison ends there!

Is this the old Perth ground, unchanged? I seem to remember during the last ashes that they were talking about moving to a different ground or big changes to the existing ground. I can't remember any details, was it similar to other grounds, going to drop in pitches and making the ground more suitable for Aussie rules games.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

I think next year's Ashes will be the last at the WACA.

Good half-centuries by deKock and Bavuma, but 242 is surely not enough...the damage was done by Starc and Hazlewood.

What happened to the promised flat pitches? I only picked batters for my FL.

Different ground - 60K (+?) built for footy ground, that will take drop in pitches - so the bland ol' bland pitches will flourish.

Warner gives Aussie bowlers extra session on his own. He is very useful in that regards.

Seems very open Test. Australia with momentum thus far.

I just watched the match highlights...Australia have almost won the match on the first day alone.

The Aussies are hard to beat in home conditions, but the South Africans didn't even compete.

Elgar and Duminy's Test averages in the 30s show that they don't come up with big scores often enough. We will soon see if Cook can maintain his good start to his career.

Amla's a class act, while du Plessis and Bavuma have been averaging in the 40s, which is good enough for a declining Saffer side. And de Kock looks like an exciting player. Steyn, Philander and Rabada have unbelievable bowling averages, which is why it's disappointing that they bowled so badly. Once again, the weak link is the Saffer spinner.
