India are clearly firm favourites but lets save some pessimism for later, using it all up so soon is wasteful.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Pessimistic as in, one sided series aren't good for the game...

Look on the bright side rain might come to England's aid and our pace bowlers benefit.

England don't want rain, unless there's a lot of it, as the ball won't reverse if it's wet (I presume the outfields will be lush to deter that anyway)!

You get swing in warm damp weather though.

Doesn't matter who we send, we're going to lose. If we even win a Test it would be a huge result. I think the ECB realise that.

Bet India haven't won a series 5-0 before. When they used to have series of that length, there were a lot of draws around. Wonder how many 5-0's there have ever been. Just the three Australia have won v England?

Probably a few more than that Arthur, I remember Greenidge scoring a double against us back in the 84 when the Windies beat us 5 - 0, then they battered us again when we went over there at the end of 85 either 4 or 5 nil.

Yes, home and away. West Indies and England beat India 5-0 in the fifties. India haven't done it yet. Nor Pakistan.

Australia have beaten England 5/5 three times, and beat SA by that in the thirties and WI in the noughties. SA also beat the WI 5-0 at the end of the nineties.

England beat Australia five times in 1978-9, but lost the sixth.

I'd have thought the Windies India series was early 60s, rather than 50s as Sobers had been around for a while by that series.

I think it was 1961, but I thought I might get away with a slight inaccuracy to the end of a shorter sentence!
